When Andrew and Diane Mole moved into their home, little did they realise that career changes would mean it would become a place of work too.
Joining the other 4 million people who spend at least part of the week working from home, they soon realised that a dedicated space, free of distractions is a must.
At first they weren't sure that their garage was an option "We looked into using our spare bedroom" explains Diane "but it wasn't big enough to accommodate both of us and our equipment, including the computers, desks and everything else that comes with working for yourself."
The couple also wanted to keep some of their garage space as Andrew who plays in a band needs somewhere secure to store the band equipment.
With a modern garage providing around 15 square meters of room, Diane and Andrew soon realised that they could use part of their garage as an office and still keep the necessary storage space they needed.
Andrew explains "We did an internet search and one company stood out for their personal approach with the owners actually doing the work; when we met Jason he immediately impressed us with his ideas and enthusiasm.
"Jason is totally competent from a technical point of view" added Diane, "and he really listened to our requirements and was genuinely interested in delivering the right solution".
Partially converting Andrew and Diane's garage enables them to run their respective businesses from the comfort of their own home and economically it's already proving a sound investment -- "its saved not only on office rent and rates, but also the commute for both of us" says Andrew.
Taking less than two weeks to complete, the couple were able to move into new 'premises' overlooking their lovely garden almost immediately. With a projected 55% of the population expected to be carrying out part of their job from home by 2012, an office is sure to appear on many house-hunters wish list.
Shortly after completing their garage conversion Diane and Andrew called to say that they would like to add space to their home. Diane's brilliant cooking is always in demand and with a steady stream of friends and family visiting, a conservatory to serve as a separate dining area was top of their list.
